MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCES

NATIONAL SECURITY COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE

The National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC) is one of the oldest and most prestigious UN simulations for college students around the world.

Since 1973, the conference has centered around realistic simulations of the world’s most pressing security concerns in modern international affairs, while also pushing the envelope on what is traditionally defined as security. Over the course of four days, over 700 students represent individual actors in the conference's 20 crisis simulations and four UN General Assembly-style simulations, engaging in dynamic debate to understand modern security concerns from the perspectives of national assemblies, state cabinets, corporate boards, councils, and inter-regional organizations. With its diverse slate of simulations and knowledgeable team of Georgetown student staffers, NCSC provides a genuine opportunity for students to explore the nuances and complexities of their interests. NCSC's location in downtown Washington, D.C. also lends itself to meaningful philanthropic partnerships with global charities, enriching visits to prominent District landmarks and unparalleled opportunities to network with modern security leaders.

NORTH AMERICAN INVITATIONAL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE

The North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) conference is GIRA's flagship conference and one of the oldest and largest UN simulations for high school students in the world.

Since 1963, 3,300+ high school students from 20+ countries convene for four days to explore various problems of the world and seek solutions through discussion, negotiation, and debate. Students simulate roles as delegates to real United Nations committees and serve as representatives of their country’s policies. Students also participate in contemporary and historical crisis simulations. Students at NAIMUN are pushed to heighten their understanding of the international system through 42 mini-simulations, ranging from standard committees like the UN General Assembly and the Security Council to crisis simulations of various regional organizations, national cabinets, corporate boards, and political organizations.
