GIRA LOCAL

GIRA Local seeks to advance youth international relations education—including, but not limited to, Model UN—for middle and high school students in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. To accomplish this mission, GIRA Local is divided into two branches: Community Programs and DistrictMUN, GIRA's middle school Model UN conference. By leveraging the position and proximity of Georgetown's campus to D.C.-based schools and organizations, GIRA Local undertakes meaningful partnerships and collaborations to serve our local community.

SDG YOUTH SUMMIT

The SDG Youth Summit is a one-day workshop for middle and high-school students from the DMV area to not only learn about the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also how to apply the SDGs and create meaningful action in their local communities and to “bring it home." At the SDG Youth Summit, participants will be able to get to know like-minded and passionate youth, as well as meet with various Georgetown University recognized clubs to engage with real-life examples of campus and community activism. Through its combination of a local focus and international perspective, the SDG Youth Summit hopes to carve a space for students to explore their international relations interests in an engaging and accessible manner.
