NAIMUN CHINA (NAICHI)
Since 1963, Georgetown University's North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) has stood as one of the longest running United Nations simulations for high school students in the world. Offering traditional General Assemblies, small Crisis Committees, and even corporate boards, NAIMUN has always strived to push the boundaries of what Model United Nations has to offer, challenging delegates to confront the challenging nature of both domestic and international politics. Since 2016,
WELCOME TO NAICHI!
Our team is pleased to invite you into the dynamic and exhilarating world of Model United Nations. At NAIMUN China you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programming that will compel you to engage and think critically about the most complex and significant issues of our day. MUN will introduce you to students who originate from a variety of countries around the globe and you will gain the ability to engage with people who hold an assortment of perspectives and ideas. MUN not only provides an education in term of international affairs, but also equips you with the necessary interpersonal skills, the ability to articulate your views, and the inner strength needed to fight for the ideas you believe in.
From the Secretary-General
Chase Wagers is a proud member of the Georgetown University Class of 2020, majoring in Government and minoring in History. He is originally from West Liberty, Kentucky. Chase became interested in Model UN at Georgetown, and now brings his passion for MUN to Georgetown's travel team and to Georgetown's two conferences: NCSC and NAIMUN. Chase served as an Undersecretary-General of ECOSOCs at Georgetown’s high school conference, NAIMUN LV, and currently serves as the Secretary-General of NAIMUN LVI and NAIMUN China. Outside of MUN, Chase is involved with Georgetown's student government, is a permanent resident of the library's social floor, and constantly battles the urge to spend more money on takeout, good coffee, and roaming DC with friends. He cannot wait to welcome you all to Chengdu in July for Pegasus-NAIMUN and NAIMUN China!
NAIMUN was established in 1963 as a Model United Nations Conference that served as a forum to educate young students and to promote the aforementioned skills. Today over 3,300 students from all around the world convene in the capital of the United States, Washington D.C., for four days where they seek solutions to the world’s greatest problems through discussion, negotiation, and debate. In February 2019, we will again host our annual conference, the Olympics of Model UN, NAIMUN LVI. Students will have the chance to participate in one of 39 committees that range in size, style, and topic. In the meantime, however, we invite you to engage with the educational experience that is NAIMUN China!
Our committees include Maastricht Treaty, 1992: Creation of the European Union, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and many other fascinating committees and topics. We firmly believe that our conference is among the greatest educational experiences that students can receive, and we hope to extend this experience through NAIMUN China this year and beyond in Chengdu!
